Getting Stronger

Hi Everyone,

Jeff and I went to his oncology appointment last Friday and found out that his insulin and tumor markers are still going down (Yea!!!). The oncologist said that when Jeff came to the office in early February, he looked like he was "circling the drain" but now his color was back and he's gained some weight - always a good sign for an oncologist. He received the monthly round of Zometa to strengthen his bones and they increased one of his chemo drugs slightly for the next two months. The oncologist will repeat the scans at the end of the next two treatments and then we'll go from there. What wonderful news! Jeff and I celebrated by having lunch at PF Changs in the White Flint Mall.

Saturday we went to the National's statium to watch the Nats and the Braves but left after sitting in the rain for 30 minutes. Instead we had an awsome walk through Georgetown - visited the C&O Canal, had lunch in a great Italian restaurant and did some shopping. What could be better???

Anyway - all is well on the home front but please keep Jeff in your prayers.

Also, when you have a second, check out "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch - a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Randy has pancreatic cancer and had been given 6 months to live - fortunately he has surpassed that milestone. Randy's insightful book is wonderful to read and you can download/view the actual lecture from http://www.cmu.edu/uls/journeys/randy-pausch/index.html if you're interested. I picked up a copy of his book at the BWI airport today - never having heard his story before and only selecting the book on a whim at the check out counter. After reading it - I'm convinced it was karma.
